‘No’ campaign lacks faith

(Another letter to the South Wales Evening Post)

An interesting juxtaposition of articles on page 2 of the Evening Post on Monday 31 January.

In the main article we had ‘True Wales’ (the ‘No’ campaign for the referendum on greater powers for the Welsh Assembly) criticising the performance of the Welsh Assembly.

Whereas immediately below it was a small article saying that Wales is one of a number of nations in the running for the European Commission’s ‘Regions of Excellence’ award. The prize is given for the way in which economic development policy is handled – something that falls entirely within the remit of the Assembly.

It seems that the EU has more confidence in the people of Wales being able to handle their own affairs than does ‘True Wales’.
